First: know that God wants you to know the way to heaven. God's Word says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13)
God knows that no one is a good enough person to go to heaven. The Bible says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" and "...the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God..." (Romans 3:10, 23 & I Corinthians 6:9). This is why Jesus had to come and die for all of mankind. You see, it does not matter if we sin less than others, we are still guilty of sinning and that makes us a sinner. Think of it this way, just because one apple tree has more apples on it than another, both are still apple trees. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (I John 1:8)
Next, all sinners will stand before God and be judged for their sin, and sin will be paid for in the lake of fire. God’s Word says, “For the wages (price) of sin is death…" "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment..." You see, the dead, no matter what their status was in life "small or great", must all stand before God and the record books will be opened and they will be judged out of those things which are written in the books. Finally, anyone whose name is not written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. (Romans 6:23, Hebrews 9:27, & Revelation 20:12-15)
It is clear that we have earned punishment but God has provided the gift of forgiveness. The Bible says, “But God commendeth (exhibited) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God has extended this gift of grace to the whole world. Grace is unearned favor, meaning, it is not something you work for. The Bible puts it this way, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Romans 5:8, John 3:15 & Ephesians 2:8-9) God’s love for us is beyond understanding. No one deserves to go to heaven and heaven cannot be earned, it is a gift from a loving God. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
God’s gift came at a great price and Jesus paid that price. Scripture makes it clear that, “...He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5) God says that it is the blood of Jesus Christ His Son that cleanseth us from all sin (I John 1:7).
Friend, God has done His part and His promise to forgive your sins is available today. He promises, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) God knows everything about us. He knows that you are reading this. God has a record of every sinful thing you have done. You must agree with Him that you have fallen short of His glory and repent of the life you have lived. Repent means to turn away from that life. Turn away from sin and turn to follow Jesus Christ.
Can you say something like this from your heart and mean it?
“God, I am a sinner who deserves to be punished, but I am sorry for what I have done and ask for your forgiveness. Jesus, I am humbled to know that you love me so much that you suffered a brutal death to pay for my sin. Because of your sacrifice and love for me, I no longer want to live a sinful life. Please come into my life and help me live for you. Today, I place my complete trust in the blood you shed and the punishment you suffered to purchase my forgiveness.”
If you can make a statement like this from your heart, and mean it; God promises: "For whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." and "...whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. The scripture says, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life..." (Romans 10:11, 13 and John 3:36)
If you accepted God’s gift after reading this invitation, Jesus says, “... joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth… “ (Luke 15:7)
Likewise, we would love to rejoice with heaven and you!
